Boundary Roadhouse - 'Top of the World' highway, Alaska

Boundary Roadhouse - 'Top of the World' highway, Alaska

Regular price $80.00 $0.00
A sod-roofed cabin built in 1927, the Boundary Roadhouse is the only surviving building from the community of Boundary's early days.
It was one of the first built in Alaska, roadhouses were found along virtually every route that prospectors traveled on a regular basis providing an often much needed break from the outside weather and/or a warm meal.
The community and roadhouse were named because it is only three miles from the Canadian border and served miners in the Walker Creek drainage area.
Sadly this one is not being protected and is being vandalized. There used to be business here with a store/gas etc, the house appears to have burnt down and the property abandoned.
